Denim
Denim has taken a lot of trial and error to mimic a professional finish on a home sewing machine. Here is an example of wide leg, low-waisted indigo jeans. I self-drafted the pattern from scratch and was careful to adhere to the correct grain while using the deadstock material economically.
Flat-felled seams could be as thick as eight layers, but hammering the folds down, and using the correct tension and needle made this possible to construct.
These are another self-drafted pattern on an elastane denim, a lower weight material, easier to run through the sewing machine. Featuring a flared style with rhinestones in the yoke were a more flamboyant design choice inspired by Dolly Parton's 'Nudie Suits'.
